As a psychologist and artist, I am fascinated by the landscape of human experience. When I first began learning to make solar plates, I was struck by an unexpected discovery. A drawing I had layered with another image appeared on the plate in a way I had not planned. The result felt mysterious. There was something about the way those images came together that invited me to look more closely. The image became a quiet inquiry into consciousness. That experience captivated me. I have been exploring that thread in my work ever since.
My current series explores the spaces between: between our inner and outer worlds, our conscious and unconscious thoughts, and our individual and collective experiences. I explore the potent idea that our sense of self is constantly evolving, shaped by forces we do not fully grasp.
The symbols I use might be nature and animals, thresholds or windows, figures or faces. I am especially drawn to eyes as a way to explore that sense of being where lines between self and world, between seen and unseen become interesting. Through these images, I hope to share my curiosity about the nuance and mystery of being human.
