I consider myself a collage and paper artist. I use old, used, salvaged and handprinted paper to tell stories. What draws me to these materials is that old paper has a history. At some point in the past, and at some place in the world, someone was engaging with the books, magazines, sheet music, posters that I now use in my work. That creates a genuine link to "elsewhere" on the surface of each piece.
I gather paper wherever I go. Depending on what I find, the work can go in any number of directions. Sometimes it's street posters, and thus an urban energy makes its mark. Sometimes it's old magazines, in which old fashioned values are highlighted.
Whatever materials I use, there is always a story being told.
