The natural world is my teacher, muse, and sacred space. It inspires my imagination and guides my work, which blends real and imagined landscapes. Much of my art draws from biological principles, with a focus on connectivity and ecology. Years of observing as a naturalist and teaching biology have shaped how I see and express these connections. Painting allows me to share my love of color and the magic of the living world.
My fascination with nature has been lifelong. From the woods of Ohio and the deserts of Arizona to the Rockies of Colorado and the redwoods of Marin County, landscapes have shaped my perspective. My career in biology, ecology, and conservation has taken me across the world, into new cultures and hidden corners, each experience deepening my artistic vision.
I have created art throughout my life in many forms—drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and painting—studying with gifted teachers at the San Francisco Art Institute, UC Berkeley, the Academy of Sciences, and the College of Marin.
I am grateful to share my work with you, and I hope it draws you closer to the beauty and wonder of the natural world. I am happy to do commissions and open my studio by appointment, feel free to reach out to me!
